Residence Squam Lake, NH

Nestled on 2 ½ acres near the filming site of On Golden Pond, this 4,400 square foot residence harkens back to the shingle-style era homes that once populated the Lakes Region. Traditional materials and details were employed to give the home an authentic turn of the century appearance. In addition to the main house, a boathouse, tennis court, and lakeside patio make up the remaining site amenities.

The interiors of the house and boathouse are finished in a variety of wood planking and bead board. Hand crafted wood trusses constructed and supplied by a local craftsman adorn the family room. An internal stair meanders around the stone fireplace, which is featured as a focal point in the kitchen. On the second floor, a spiral staircase found adjacent to the family room balcony leads up through a floor hatch into the “widows nest” at the roof’s peak. From this summit one is afforded an uninterrupted 180-degree view of the lake beyond. A floor plan that follows the natural contours of the site affords every room all through the house a unique vantage point on the lake. As the seasons change a dynamic experience is provided both inside as well as outside of the house.
