Residence Lake
Winnipesaukee
Located
on a secluded peninsula on the north shore of Lake Winnipesaukee,
the residence harkens back to the early Adirondack cabins settled
along the lake’s shores at the turn of the century. Rustic
details with exposed timber beams and columns are found throughout
the home. The main entry features real log columns and branches
as decorative treatments reflecting the rural nature of the
site. A large stone fireplace serves as the focal point for
the family room at one end of the house, while a secluded sleeping
porch anchors the other end. Rustic details abound as you navigate
the 5,846 square foot cabin. A reading nook, framed in wide
wood planks, presents a cozy window seat nestled into a dormer
overlooking picturesque views of the lake. The bunkroom is long
and narrow with enough beds to accommodate a last minute sleepover.
The master bedroom features a commanding wrap-around view of
the lake, while the master bath provides the perfect retreat
to take in the rainbow of colors chasing after each sunset.
Log and stone columns frame the lake views from the covered
porch and serve as allegorical sentinels along the building’s
primary façade. The stone motif is carried through, along
the entire foundation, giving the building a solid and secure
base. Red cedar shingles, cut logs and birch bark are fused
together as siding, much like that found on turn of the century
cabins all around the lake.
