Atlantic Regional Federal Credit Union Topsham,Maine

This new headquarters for a growing credit union was in search of an identity. The clients needed a lot of space for expansion, on a limited budget. In addition, they wanted to incorporate their new motto, ”Catch the Wave," into the architecture. Externally, traditional building materials and construction methods were employed to keep costs down. Internally, large open structural bays were designed to provide the greatest amount of flexibility. Materials used on the inside provided a link between the motto and the architecture, including patterns that mimic the “Wave.” Millwork, merchandising displays and signage also incorporated the wave. Flooring and walls were in blues and grays. Natural wood was used as an accent throughout, creating a nautical feel. With large open display areas necessary, the lighting was designed on two levels, one for the lobby and another for the surrounding office. Indirect lighting for the office minimized eyestrain while the lobby utilized direct lighting for displays. The hope is that this first branch will enhance the expansion of the credit union's financial services to an ever-increasing member base.
