2004 Architectural Preservation Award

 

The architectural firm of Royal Design, based in Hampton, NH, along with Watertown Savings Bank, has recently been awarded the 2004 Architectural Preservation Award by the Town of Watertown Historical Commission for the preservation of the Watertown Savings Bank located at One Galen Street in Watertown, MA.  The awards ceremony was held on May 13, 2004 at the Commander's Mansion, the pre civil war era headquarters for the Arsenal.  The Watertown Historical Commission annually bestows awards to individuals and groups who contribute to the historic preservation in Watertown.  In particular, the Architectural Preservation Award is given to an individual, group or project associated with the betterment of any building within Watertown that exhibits the use of architectural restoration standards or methods.  In the words of the Watertown Historical Commission: " Watertown Savings Bank meets this selective criteria ."  The final phase of this ten million dollar renovation project is due to begin this Fall.
